"Spirit Walk in Augusta"

Ghost floating outside stone house

I've always been interested in "Spirit Tours" or "Ghost Tours" and I do believe "Spirits / Ghosts" are real. I didn't know there was such a thing in Augusta until now... LOL I may have to drag my husband to this! I have never really seen a ghost or spirit in plain sight but I do think I've "felt" a presence or two in a room just when I thought I was completely alone. I think this is the perfect time of year to do a tour and learn some history of Augusta!

From The Augusta Chronicle:

Augustans from days gone by will share their stories during the 14th annual Walk with the Spirits on Oct. 24-25.
Presented by Historic Augusta, the walking tours will be held in two cemeteries with the same name but at two locations: Summerville Cemetery at Johns and Cumming roads and Summerville Cemetery at the north end of Johns Road on Fitten Street.
The Cumming Road tract was created using land originally used as a family plot that was donated by Thomas Cumming. Little history is known on the Fitten Street cemetery other than it was created on land purchased by 12 Black residents of Summer Hill for use as a Black cemetery. Augusta-Richmond County now maintains both cemeteries.
Thirteen spirits will be brought to life by actors in period costume, said Catherine Robertson, the chairman of Walk With the Spirits, who is a genealogist and history researcher.
Robertson said she and Erick Montgomery, the executive director of Historic Augusta Inc., have carefully mapped out a route to allow for social distancing as visitors learn about people who have not yet been featured.
To align with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention safety guidelines for COVID-19, tour groups will be limited to 10 people. Face coverings will be required as well as six-foot social distancing from anyone who is not part of a family group.
Robertson and fellow historian Joyce Law were tasked with researching the deceased Augustans who will be featured, but the actors portraying them write their own presentations based on the research.
