I got my flu shot today... have you gotten yours?
Augusta University Health is encouraging people to protect themselves and get their shots before the end of the month. The hospital is restricting visitors under 18 years of age to help prevent spreading flu and other infections.
We are heading into a potentially serious flu season. You can get your shots at your doctors' offices and pharmacies throughout the CSRA.
Other precautions you can take are washing your hands with soap and warm water frequently and covering your mouth with your elbow when you cough.
Dr. Jim Wilde says that the vaccine does not protect against other "flu-like" illnesses. Your best protection is to stay away from sick people and stay away from large crowds during flu season.
Symptoms of the flu: fever of 100 degrees or higher, coughing, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, headache, body aches, chills, fatigue, nausea or vomiting.
I have had the flu TWICE in my life, and I can vouch for the fact that it is ROUGH! And it can be worse on young kids and the elderly. PLEASE protect yourself!
