A unanimous vote by the North Augusta City Council Monday night means plans to expand the Greeneway have been pushed through.
They were gifted 2 pieces of land from the North Augusta Forward organization, which will be used to expand the Greeneway further beyond I-20. For those who regularly use the Greeneway-- it seems they are happy about the plans.
As of now, the Greeneway ends in the Woodstone neighborhood, but the city has plans to extend into Mayfield Court, eventually connecting with the old North Augusta Country Club property.
There are also hopes of expanding the path into downtown- drawing more folks to the businesses and restaurants.
More land will need to be acquired before all of this can take place, and there's no timeline of when all of it will be completed!
