Two men in Augusta had an interesting night...
The two were driving on Gordon Highway near the Brick Ponds. They noticed Richmond County Sheriff presence pulled over on the side of the road where they realized someone on a kayak had been chased by a 10 foot alligator, weighing in at 360 pounds!
One guy called a friend who has an alligator hunting license for help. It took the men about 2 and a half hours to get the aggressive beast under control and tagged before removing it from the area.
Wildlife officials were notified and the gator was taken to a local processor.
A good reminder not to feed alligators, don't go near them... and don't hunt them without a license!
