The Chef Toby Pig Ear dog treats from Dog Goods USA are being recalled.
The FDA and CDC have been investigating a link between the treats and human cases of salmonellosis. The investigation began July 31st, with this being the third such recall involving pig ear treats.
Almost 130 people have been infected, and 33 hospitalized.
Signs of salmonella include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever. If any of the symptoms are present, contact your doctor. Pet owners should also look for signs in their animals: lethargy, diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Contact your vet if you notice any of these.
Dog Goods purchased the products from Brazil, dating back to September 2018, through this month. They are trying to determine if, when and where the products were contaminated. If you purchased the affected products, you can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
