At Least Two Tornadoes In Our Area

This morning, the National Weather Service announced at least 2 tornadoes passed through the area on Sunday. They are still assessing damage and investigating the path, length, width and strength. Seven people were injured as a result of the storm and transported to area hospitals, according to Suzy Spurgeon, Edgefield County EMA director. Homes were severely damaged around Woodlawn Road and Briggs Road.

There were many power outages in Edgefield County as well, with Aiken Electric Cooperative working to restore power.

Columbia County EMA officials are assessing damages as well in and around William Few Parkway, Berkeley Hills, Gibbs Road and Deerwood area, according to Cassidy Harris, public relations manager for Columbia County EMA. Some power outages occurred in Georgia but appear to have all been resolved. No injuries reported in Columbia County.
