For generations of Americans with young daughters, Disney Princesses have been friends, role models, and babysitters. But there's been some rethinking about that in recent years.
KEIRA KNIGHTLEY has a 3-year-old daughter, and she won't let her watch some of those movies, because of the messages they send.
"Cinderella" is one of them. On "Ellen" yesterday, Keira said, quote, "She waits around for a rich guy to rescue her. Don't. Rescue yourself, obviously."
Keira is conflicted about "The Little Mermaid", because she LOVES it, but she doesn't want her daughter to watch it. Quote, "The songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man! Hello?
"So that one's a little tricky one, but I'm keeping to it."
But Ellen was happy to hear that Dory, her character from "Finding Nemo" and "Finding Dory", is mom-approved.
