Watch Morgan Wallen's Behind-The-Scenes Look At Emotional 'Smile' Video

Morgan Wallen shared a behind-the-scenes look at the music video for “Smile,” the surprise single he released on December 31, on Thursday (January 16).

The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year teamed up with Rocky Block, John Byron, ERNEST and Ryan Vojtesak to write “Smile.” Joey Moi and Charlie Handsome produced the emotional ballad, and Justin Clough directed the music video that premiered on the same day to close out 2024. The video depicts the singer in a distant relationship with the woman sitting with him in his dressing room. After Wallen takes the stage to perform on a fictitious New Year’s Eve special, he returns to the dressing room to find the woman has left. On set, Clough said Wallen was “crushing it,” and “good at being the sad guy.”

“There’s been a couple songs where I have a feeling that they’re gonna do well, and ‘Last Night’ was the last one that I had that feeling on,” Wallen said of “Smile” in the behind-the-scenes video. “My feeling was right, you know? And I have that same feeling with this song, and — I actually like this song better — and it’s just one of those songs where, no matter how many times I’m singing it or listening to it, I get goosebumps at some point in the song. So, it’s like, those songs don’t come around very often, so I’m super excited about it.”
