Carly Pearce got the ultimate surprise when she recently filmed an unboxing video. The powerhouse singer-songwriter “really wasn’t expecting” to receive her Grammy Award that she won earlier this year for her smash-hit heartbreak collaboration with fellow country star Ashley McBryde, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl.”
Pearce shared on TikTok that her team told her that she was filming an unboxing video for a company. Little did she know, however, she would find her history-making achievement. The video captured Pearce’s genuine surprise, and she told one TikTok commenter that it still doesn’t feel real that she earned her first-ever Grammy Award.
The victory at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in February marked the the first time that two women have been the winners of the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category. Pearce, who previously shared a video of the heartwarming moment that she excitedly called her mom to deliver the news, picked out the perfect place to display the award: on top of the 1940s-era radio that her great grandfather always listened to, which now sits in her house.
“I did not expect this,” Pearce said when she and McBryde accepted the award. “Holy moly! This is my first nomination, so I was NOT expecting this!”
