Riley Green said it’s “not that easy” to meet someone when he has a career in the spotlight.
Green, 37, spoke about the possibility of dating and having a future with someone when he appeared on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend. He told the comedian and podcast host it can be difficult to meet someone and establish a genuine relationship while he’s pursuing many of his growing career opportunities. Green said, “it’s really not that easy to meet a girl when you’re doing what we’re doing. Like, I mean, I’m not going to meet a girl at a show, you know? …And I’m not going to meet a girl on Instagram, you know what I mean? And when you get to a place where people are, you know, it gets tough to know who you’re meeting for what. And I always feel like if I met somebody that was like a fan, I feel like it would be tough for me to be like… I go in a bar, and when people start, you get a little big anxious.
“I don’t mind being the center of attention at a show. Or if I’m in a town, I’m playing a show, and I go to a restaurant or a bar down the street,” Green continued. “But like, I don’t like being the center of attention when I’m not supposed to. That always makes me feel off. I don’t like to feel like, if I went to another show, and people were asking me for a picture and there was somebody else on stage, that would make me feel really, really rude, you know? So, like, a restaurant — it’s not that people ask me for a picture it bothers me. It’s just, I don’t want to be standing up causing a scene. I don’t like that.
“I’m not going to meet a girl at the bar. …It’s tough,” Green said. “I feel like if I could be in one place for a while, live somewhere — that’s another thing. I don’t feel like I live anywhere. got a house in Nashville and I stay there every once in a while. I got a farm in Alabama. …I would love to try to get bored of being at home. I just — I can’t remember the last time I had a week off,” Green said, noting that it’s difficult to turn down many of his career opportunities. Green recently co-hosted the Country Music Association’s CMA Fest, and he’s gearing up for his first year as a coach on The Voice. Earlier this year, he made his acting debut on the Yellowstone spinoff, Marshals.
