Jefferson County High School Student Gets Special Gift!

The beginning of this school year was extra special for one Jefferson County High School student, Jeyly Ambrosio,14.

As she started her first year of high school, Jeyly's cancer is in remission.

At the age of 12, Jeyly first started experiencing symptoms like fevers, bruising, pain and fatigue. There were many exams and tests that eventually led to the discovery that she had leukemia.

Her treatment began immediately, with blood transfusions and months of chemotherapy. After several months, she was declared to be in remission. She has medicine she still takes and they hope to get the cancer-free clear by February.

She's healthy now and even a part of the marching band.

So what special gift does Jeyly get?

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (funds blood cancer research and lifesaving treatments) has teamed up with Burlington to offer child survivors new clothes! So Jeyly gets a surprise shopping spree at the Burlington Store in Augusta (Augusta Parkway)! What a great way to celebrate a huge victory!

Thoughts and prayers with Jeyly that she will continue on in her remission and lead a long, healthy life!

In addition, from now through December 2, in more than 690 Burlington stores nationwide, customers are encouraged to donate $1 or more at checkout to support LLS’s goal to create a world without blood cancer. The partnership has raised more than $37 million to date.
